Would you buy a bunch of rotten apples just because they didn’t have any worms? Ironically, this is what seems to have happened last year, where companies that delivered earnings that were not as bad as originally expected – now ran up quite nicely. Those companies that delivered good earnings, did exceptionally well with their share price. Capitec (CPI) delivered a share performance gain of 169%,...

Full Report on Foord Compa...

After the rocket ride of 2009, it may be prudent to start off 2010 with a bit of risk diversification in mind. Foord Compass Limited, an investment company with a solid track record and buckets of cash, may be worth considering for the long term investor. The competitive advantage of China has largely been its artificially controlled currency, which remains cheap relative to the US Dollar, the Euro and obviously the Rand. There is also still a lot of government control of Chinese companies and regulatory controls are not as sound as in other countries. It should not be forgotten...

About 2009’s Top Per...

While sharetips managed to get the scoop on a number of the Top Twenty performers, we missed the opportunity to recommend top performer, Cenmag (CMG). They were a rather unlikely top performer, with a 669% return in a year when the ALSI40 performed at ten percent of that figure. Cenmag was a winder of electric motors, but the company got rid of those operations and took on a new identity, with new...
